Merry Christmas to All and to All...

Merry Christmas!!  What a week it's been for me!  Great times with family and friends and we still have New Years Eve.

I got off work early (about 11:30 on Thursday) to go and finish Christmas shopping.  Thursday was a friends birthday and we started the birthday celebrations at my house consuming a celebratory shot of Crown Royal and some laughs while watching the snow come down hard.  15 of our nearest and dearest met at our local hang out...remember we live in the country so it's nothing have dinner and drinks.  It snowed like CRAZY...but that didn't stop us from heading to the bar after dinner.  Leaving the bar at 2 AM with snow packed and icy roads was not the best idea...I mean, the interstate was even closed!

I was supposed to go to work for a half day on Friday, but thankfully due to snow and closed roads and a concerned boss/dad, I was able to stay home and sleep in.  Friday was spent home in my sweats wrapping presents and relaxing.  I think I was in bed asleep by 9:15...sometimes we all need our rest.  HAHA

Christmas Eve was spent at my parents house cooking, eating, eating, oh...did I mention eating!?  We had green chile stew, posole, tamales, jalapeno poppers, sausage balls, stuffed mushrooms, a cheese ball...oh goodness I ate way too much!!  My parents neighbors came over...friends since we moved in to that house, 25 years ago.  We laughed, ate, consumed some adult beverages, and gossiped.  Because who doesn't talk about the latest drama in town with their parents?!?!

Presents were opened, more stories told, thank yous were exchanged and gifts were packed up to bring home.  Everyone was so happy with their gifts, and like every year we all got way more than we'd hoped for...way more than we needed that's for sure!

Today we cooked the traditional Christmas lunch.  Turkey breast, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken and dumplings, deviled eggs.  Is that traditional?  What does everyone else eat?  I came home and spent the afternoon chilling on the couch watching movies with my sweet sweet dogs.

Gifts will follow in another post.  For now, I'm going to finish this movie...and my Christmas Coors Light and drift off to sleep.  I'm off again tomorrow...not sure what to do with myself with 4 1/2 days off!

With all the cold, snowy, rainy, just down right nasty weather we've been having, I've decided it's time to start thinking about a warm weather vacation!  Sun, sand, the ocean perhaps...

Maybe a cruise?!  Maybe Mexico, Jamaica???  I have no clue, it's not going to be some big huge trip but some relaxing with a ice cold beverage and no worries.

Maybe even Florida?!  There's so many places I want to go and things I want to see and do!  I just can't choose where to start!

How the Glitz Stole Christmas Blog Swap!!

Finally getting this post together!  What a week it's been.  I participated in the blog swap created by Raven and Lindsey.  I was paired up with Susanna from Freckles & Lace.

This was my first blog swap and I was super excited to buy things and send them and see what I got in return.

We exchanged a few emails and got to know a little about each other and of course I checked out her blog about her and her adorable family.

My package arrived when I was on vacation and I was so excited to get it I stopped on my way to work really early in the morning and got it.  I could barely wait to get to the office and open it up.

She sent the cutest little card!  And some super adorable stuff.  A little zebra print wrislet purse perfect for a night out with the girls!  A zebra print purse size planner and awesome turquoise pens to write in all my fun events.  Some adorable turquoise bracelets that will be perfect with some of my other jewelry, nail files, a pedicure set, and some awesome nail polish...that some how missed getting in the picture.  Oh...and the best little stocking ever that is now sitting in my office waiting to be filled with goodies!!

I have to say that she nailed it and got the BEST stuff ever!  I had such a good time doing this swap.  Thank you Susanna for all the amazing stuff.  I hope to keep in touch with you and take care of those sweet babies of yours!

Long Weekend

I'm finally semi recovered from my long weekend in Las Vegas.  A post with pictures will come soon...for now I must get caught up at works.

But first a few quick details of the trip.
  • Stuck on the interstate at Flagstaff, AZ for 3 hours on the trip out while they plowed the roads and made them passable.  Do you know what you have to do when you have to desperately need to use the bathroom while sitting on the interstate?  It's not pretty!!
  • Watching a bucking horse sell for $100,000 at the bucking sale at South Point!  That was intense.
  • $6 for a Coors Light.  $10 for a shot of tequila.  $60 for 4 hamburgers and fries.
  • Amazing evenings with friends watching the rodeo and cheering on Taos Muncy in the Saddle Bronc riding.  Poor guy can't catch a break this year.
  • Coyote Ugly and Gilley's with 10 of your craziest friends is always a good time.
  • A peaceful Sunday night with just us three girls eating the most amazing (and expensive) dinner ever at the Camelot inside Excalibur and being in bed by 11.
  • Hoping for clear roads the whole way home on Monday and not hitting any bad weather until about 40 miles from home.
It was a great weekend filled with great friends, good food, and plenty of alcohol.  Tons of amazing memories were made and some new friends were found.  I wish I could have stayed for the whole rodeo but lets be realistic...who could afford 10 days in Vegas?!

Thanksgiving Weekend

I took a few pictures this weekend!!

This post is a slightly random rambling of how my long weekend went.

Wednesday I worked and went to school...this is what I wore.

Wednesday night a group of us went to the Dirty Bourbon (it's a bar in town) to watch some friends that were playing that night.  If you're ever in Albuquerque you need to see if you can find Bo Brown Band playing somewhere.

Me, Bobbie and Jason at the bar...bad picture sorry.

Thursday I got up by 8 am after being out until about 4 and made my way to my mom's house to help cook for Thanksgiving.  We were eating at my brother's but her and I had to get a few things ready to go.  I will have to say I failed at getting pictures of family and friends all day but it was a great day.

I took my dogs with me Thanksgiving Day and they got to play with my brother and his girlfriend's 5 dogs.  Apparently it was more than they could take because these pictures are them at about 8 that night sleeping.  Not a care in the world for them!!

Friday...I stayed home and cleaned.  Nothing exciting nothing picture worthy.  Just me in my sweatpants cleaning for hours upon hours.

Saturday I decided to get out and get some shopping done.  I needed a few things still for our Vegas trip, some blog swap items, and a few unnecessary items to put in my closet. :)

What I wore shopping...had to be comfy!
I ended up with the gray ones.
I really need that my my my truck somedays even!!!  I love it!
Not bad for a 2 hour shopping trip...

And then...I decided I needed to clean out my purse!
It was long overdue by the looks of it!!!

Saturday night Bobbie came over and we got stuff ready to leave for Vegas.  When 3 girls are driving to Vegas you need lots of music and lots of planning.  Lists upon lists of who is taking what were made!!!

Sunday I went and had breakfast with my folks and went to Lowe's to pick up a shop vac.  I spent the rest of the day being lazy around the house and trying to do a few little chores.
I finished my weekend off with a good bottle of wine.  Yes a bottle, for some reason I thought that I couldn't re-use the cork or something.

Happy Tuesday!!!
Any pointers on uploading pictures would be helpful.  I rotated all of these and adjusted them to be ready to upload and had to re-rotate most of them just now.  It was time consuming and I know there has to be a better way.

Another Picture-less Weekend Recap

I had another event filled weekend with no photos.  I'm hoping the next couple of weekends bring more photo opportunities to spruce this little blog up.

My mom went in to the hospital Wednesday for a little surgery and had to stay until Sunday so since Wednesday I've been running like crazy.  Work, school, the hospital, and down to my parents house (40-ish miles from the hospital) to let the little dogs in and out of the house.

Friday night consisted of hanging out on the back porch with my brother's girlfriend drinking a few cold Coor's Lights and being home in bed by 9:30.

Saturday I woke up and did a little house work and got ready to spend the day with my friend Bobbie.  We had a full day of shopping to do to get ready for Vegas in a couple of weeks (9 days left before we leave).  We went and got her hair cut and went to see my mom in the hospital for a bit.  We proceeded to PF Changs for some yummy lettuce wraps for lunch.  From there we made stops at Boot Barn, Jackalope, Target, Sally's Beauty, Coldwater Creek, and the Mac Cosmetic store.  After a long day of shopping we were in need of some ice cold beverages and appetizers so headed to Chili's to enjoy the evening.  Once again...home before 10 and in bed asleep.

I spent yesterday doing housework at my house and my shopping for my parents...and putting away laundry and starting my packing for Vegas.

Thank goodness for 3 short weeks at work in a row and a much needed vacation.  Oh...and for only 3 or 4 more days of school!!!

Happy Monday

Horse Races, 4-Wheeling, and a Fight

We're country...we don't do many of the things that most people do.  I started my weekend early on Friday by heading to the race track to watch my brother's horse race the last race of the season...which ended up being his last race ever for us.  His last few races haven't had such a great outcome and Friday after he came in dead last with a swollen knee and a major limp we decided to have X-Rays done.  We found out he has seven bone chips in his knee making it impossible to keep him on the track so the decision was made to sell him...don't worry, we have something like 11 other horses to fill the void.

After the races we decided to go do a little bit of back-roading and 4-wheeling.  We piled in the truck with a cooler and some awesome tunes and spent the next 4 hours just driving around the ditch banks and having a fun, relaxing, drama free evening.  Rodney Atkins song "Take A Back Road" sums up our evening.

I woke up Saturday morning with a fever and chills and feared the worst but after some lunch and shopping with a great friend I felt tons better.  We decided that fight night at my brothers was necessary and there was tons of food, family, and friends to enjoy the evening.  We even followed that up with a little karaoke at our favorite little home town "bar".

All in all it was a good weekend...once again with no pictures.  One of these days.

What I've been up to...

October seems like it just flew by!!!  So much has gone on and I feel like it even though it's happened to me and around me I've missed part of it.

I've been working and going to school like crazy.  It's been busy at work...and at school.  I've got 3 or 4 weeks left for school this semester and have been working on final projects (no tests for me just projects!!).  All the homework and time spent at work means my house has been neglected and is in serious need of some cleaning.

We found out one of my friends is pregnant!  There's been drama surrounding that whole situation that's kept everyone a little busy...

Back to the work thing...we did a little re-organization and I have a new boss...and a new cubicle to call home.  Let's hope we all get adjusted and back to our regular schedule.

Oh...and the fun stuff.  I went last weekend up to a friends ranch in the northern part of the state.  It was a really fun trip!!  It was a very cold trip...we got to see our first real snow of the season, the day after we left it snowed at least a foot.  We messed with the yearling cows...tried to decide which ones to keep and which ones everyone could stand to see go.  A buddy smoked some pork and we had a pretty big party in the garage...lots of beer, some delicous food, card games and a little bit of flip cup.  The weekend ended with me getting very little sleep but it was worth it.

Up next, getting ready for our Vegas trip!  It's 3 weeks away and I can hardly stand it.

I need to get better about taking pictures...and learn the best way to post them.

I really want to do this whole blogging thing...I just don't always know what to write about.  And I really need to get some pretty going on on this blog.  It's very plain...and that's not me.

I'm interested in doing link ups sometimes but not sure how to do that.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated?

Las Vegas!!!

In 49 days me and two of my friends will be packing up and driving to Las Vegas for a little bit of fun!

We'll make the eight hour drive and be spending four nights here:

We have no big plans made...just doing some shopping at Cowboy Christmas, indulging in a few adult beverages, watching the live broadcast of the rodeo and having a relaxing weekend!

I'm already so excited and have tons of time to wait.  Here's to hoping the next 49 days fly by!

Happy Wednesday!!!

I'm so happy it's Wednesday!  The week is half way over and I can start thinking about plans for the weekend.  I'm not looking forward to making it thru today...Monday and Wednesday are my long days.  I leave for work at 6:30 am and I don't get home from school until 9 pm.  Makes for a pretty long day but only 10 more weeks and I'll be done for the semester.

This weekend I think will be all things related to horses.  Rodeo's and horse sales are in town this weekend and our family is trying to sell 3 horses and a close friend is trying to sell one.  So we will be busy getting animals cleaned and ready.

For now I'm off to attempt getting some work done before I have to head off to school.  Happy Hump Day!!

What A Weekend!!

Whew...what a weekend!  I really need to get better about taking pictures but this weekend there just didn't seem to be anytime for that.

One of my BFF's moved back this weekend and it was CRAZY getting her settled...well she's still not settled.  She drove in Friday night (about a 4 hour drive) and got here in the pouring down rain with the bed of her truck full of "stuff" that was at this point soaking wet.  We unload the truck and spend the rest of the evening having a few alcoholic beverages with friends and relaxing...there may have been a few games of beer pong played that night as well.

Saturday we wake up in a freezing cold house and start the day cleaning and organizing.  Oh my word that house was a mess!!!  You see...she moved in with her boyfriend and his buddy and it seems those boys didn't know how to dust!!!

We live in the country, we wear cowboy boots and jeans...we haul hay and feed horses and get dirty.  Why do I tell you this?  Well, Saturday afternoon as we are cleaning house the phone rings and we are asked to jump in the truck and drive south about 5 miles to help they guys...they've just lost 140 bales of hay off the trailer on the side of the road.

This is kind of what the load looked like to start...except taller.  And more than half of that load was on the side of the road when we got there.  We spent two hours on the side of the road re-loading hay on the trailer.  After that whole incident we decided that a few alcoholic beverages were needed Saturday night as well.  Nothing better than a cold Coors Light after a long day of cleaning and hauling hay.

Yesterday was spent cleaning my house and all of us doing homework followed by hanging blinds at Christy's new house (remember...this house has been occupied by two boys for a long time and they've lived there with no coverings on the windows).  Us girls have decided that their house will take time but we will make it livable.

Not a really exciting weekend...nothing super fun and crazy.  Just a run of the mill weekend for a group that lives in the country and has a laid back life.

She's Almost Back!!

I mentioned yesterday that one of my best friends was moving back to town this weekend and I couldn't be more excited!!

This girl, Christy...the one on the left, has been my bestie for 25 years.  She was my first friend when we moved to town and I wouldn't change a thing about her.  The one on the right, Kori...that's Christy's cousin.  Now this picture is super old...2006 which just means there is definately a need for some new adventures and new pictures.

With the changes going on in my life right now I think her moving back is the perfect thing for me!!!  I can't wait until Saturday!

This and That

A very random post to keep me going on this new little adventure...

1.  I'm super excited for one of my best friends to move back to town this weekend.  We've been friends for 25 years and it will be nice to have her close again!!

2.  The massive amounts of rain we've been getting for the last 24 hours is awesome.  We needed the moisture and it's a great transition to fall.

3.  The downfall to all this rain...well I work for a construction company and all of our projects are now shut down because you can't work in the rain.  This means that we have employees not earning a paycheck and jobs that are getting behind schedule.

4.  I spent about 6 hours yesterday getting caught up on homework.  I'm hoping that I don't get behind again.

5.  I will spend time this weekend trying to figure out how to add pictures and pretty to this blog.

Happy Wednesday!!

How I Got Here

I wake up most mornings and think that this is not where I thought I would be in life. 30 and single...never married, no kids and back in college.

My ex...I met him through a mutual friend just over two years ago.  He's younger than me by 9 years but that didn't seem to matter.  We hit it off immediately and started dating but I couldn't totally commit...I wasn't ready to put my whole heart out there to be crushed (because that's what usually happened).  We casually dated for a few months and then broke things off completely.  After a few more months I realized that this guy was a good guy, he really liked me, he was polite, he had definately been paitient with me so I decided to give it a chance.  Two months in things were great...we moved in together, we did almost everything together.  Sure we had our little arguements but who doesn't.  This was June of forward to March 2011 and he has been offered an amazing job out of state doing what he loves.  It's only 5 hours away, we talk and realize that we can handle the long distance thing and that we'll make it work.

Turns out...we couldn't.  We had different opinions on how to handle this distance.  I wanted to be able to talk to him...he thought I was being too needy.  So many other things have happened and I am now trying to deal with this horrible breakup that I didn't want at all.

This is a long post and a sad one for me to write.  I want to share these things but also the fun things and the new expierences.

The beginning...

I've been thinking about starting a blog for some time now and just never knew how interesting it would be.  I've decided to jump in and try it.  I've had some pretty big changes in my life the last few months and decided with this next chapter in my life starting I would blog so I have something to look back and see where I've been.

I personally don't know anyone who blogs but I read a few of them daily and it made me interested.

Any help / suggestions / anything...would be greatly appreciated to get me started.
