Merry Christmas to All and to All...

Merry Christmas!!  What a week it's been for me!  Great times with family and friends and we still have New Years Eve.

I got off work early (about 11:30 on Thursday) to go and finish Christmas shopping.  Thursday was a friends birthday and we started the birthday celebrations at my house consuming a celebratory shot of Crown Royal and some laughs while watching the snow come down hard.  15 of our nearest and dearest met at our local hang out...remember we live in the country so it's nothing fancy...to have dinner and drinks.  It snowed like CRAZY...but that didn't stop us from heading to the bar after dinner.  Leaving the bar at 2 AM with snow packed and icy roads was not the best idea...I mean, the interstate was even closed!

I was supposed to go to work for a half day on Friday, but thankfully due to snow and closed roads and a concerned boss/dad, I was able to stay home and sleep in.  Friday was spent home in my sweats wrapping presents and relaxing.  I think I was in bed asleep by 9:15...sometimes we all need our rest.  HAHA

Christmas Eve was spent at my parents house cooking, eating, eating, oh...did I mention eating!?  We had green chile stew, posole, tamales, jalapeno poppers, sausage balls, stuffed mushrooms, a cheese ball...oh goodness I ate way too much!!  My parents neighbors came over...friends since we moved in to that house, 25 years ago.  We laughed, ate, consumed some adult beverages, and gossiped.  Because who doesn't talk about the latest drama in town with their parents?!?!

Presents were opened, more stories told, thank yous were exchanged and gifts were packed up to bring home.  Everyone was so happy with their gifts, and like every year we all got way more than we'd hoped for...way more than we needed that's for sure!

Today we cooked the traditional Christmas lunch.  Turkey breast, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken and dumplings, deviled eggs.  Is that traditional?  What does everyone else eat?  I came home and spent the afternoon chilling on the couch watching movies with my sweet sweet dogs.

Gifts will follow in another post.  For now, I'm going to finish this movie...and my Christmas Coors Light and drift off to sleep.  I'm off again tomorrow...not sure what to do with myself with 4 1/2 days off!

Vacation

With all the cold, snowy, rainy, just down right nasty weather we've been having, I've decided it's time to start thinking about a warm weather vacation!  Sun, sand, the ocean perhaps...

Maybe a cruise?!  Maybe Mexico, Jamaica???  I have no clue, it's not going to be some big huge trip but some relaxing with a ice cold beverage and no worries.

Maybe even Florida?!  There's so many places I want to go and things I want to see and do!  I just can't choose where to start!

How the Glitz Stole Christmas Blog Swap!!

Photobucket

Finally getting this post together!  What a week it's been.  I participated in the blog swap created by Raven and Lindsey.  I was paired up with Susanna from Freckles & Lace.

This was my first blog swap and I was super excited to buy things and send them and see what I got in return.

We exchanged a few emails and got to know a little about each other and of course I checked out her blog about her and her adorable family.

My package arrived when I was on vacation and I was so excited to get it I stopped on my way to work really early in the morning and got it.  I could barely wait to get to the office and open it up.

She sent the cutest little card!  And some super adorable stuff.  A little zebra print wrislet purse perfect for a night out with the girls!  A zebra print purse size planner and awesome turquoise pens to write in all my fun events.  Some adorable turquoise bracelets that will be perfect with some of my other jewelry, nail files, a pedicure set, and some awesome nail polish...that some how missed getting in the picture.  Oh...and the best little stocking ever that is now sitting in my office waiting to be filled with goodies!!

I have to say that she nailed it and got the BEST stuff ever!  I had such a good time doing this swap.  Thank you Susanna for all the amazing stuff.  I hope to keep in touch with you and take care of those sweet babies of yours!

Long Weekend

I'm finally semi recovered from my long weekend in Las Vegas.  A post with pictures will come soon...for now I must get caught up at works.

But first a few quick details of the trip.
  • Stuck on the interstate at Flagstaff, AZ for 3 hours on the trip out while they plowed the roads and made them passable.  Do you know what you have to do when you have to desperately need to use the bathroom while sitting on the interstate?  It's not pretty!!
  • Watching a bucking horse sell for $100,000 at the bucking sale at South Point!  That was intense.
  • $6 for a Coors Light.  $10 for a shot of tequila.  $60 for 4 hamburgers and fries.
  • Amazing evenings with friends watching the rodeo and cheering on Taos Muncy in the Saddle Bronc riding.  Poor guy can't catch a break this year.
  • Coyote Ugly and Gilley's with 10 of your craziest friends is always a good time.
  • A peaceful Sunday night with just us three girls eating the most amazing (and expensive) dinner ever at the Camelot inside Excalibur and being in bed by 11.
  • Hoping for clear roads the whole way home on Monday and not hitting any bad weather until about 40 miles from home.
It was a great weekend filled with great friends, good food, and plenty of alcohol.  Tons of amazing memories were made and some new friends were found.  I wish I could have stayed for the whole rodeo but lets be realistic...who could afford 10 days in Vegas?!
