Blog Swaps!!!!!!

I've been trying to get more into this whole blogging thing.  I really enjoy it...it is my outlet lately.  I still have tons to learn and it's going to take time but I'll get there.

I got involved in two really awesome exchanges for Christmas.

First up was the ornament swap!  I got paired up with Denise and was so excited to do this exchange!  Check out her blog to see what I sent her!!

She got me the cutest set of angel wings!!!

And this the cutest story along with them.  Unfortunately, I'm at work today and didn't bring that with me...maybe I'll remember to share it later!

I loved this exchange and it was so nice to email back and forth with Denise!

Next I did the Holiday Swap with Linny's Vault and got paired up with Gini.  It was so so fun emailing her back and forth and learning about her life with her family full of boys!  It's amazing what you can really learn about someone without ever "meeting" them.  She got me some really amazing stuff!!

A super cute "Merry Christmas" tray, a blinged out picture frame, a beautiful star ornament and some sparkly nail polish!!  Best of all were the cute Texas Longhorn band aides that I'm sure she was super embarrassed to be seen carrying them around but I LOVE them.

Thank you both for the amazing things!!!

Christmas Time!!

Christmas came and went this year without any major celebration.  It was just my parents and I for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we'll celebrate with my brother and his girlfriend (and her kids) this coming weekend.

All the presents I bought and wrapped this year.

We always open presents at my parents house on Christmas Eve and did so this year just the three of us.  We all came away with some pretty cool stuff.  My favorite by far was a cute cutting board!
A boot shaped cutting board!!!  Me loves!!!

I spent tons of time reading!  I read the Twilight series this month finally...finished all 4 books in 3 weeks.  I have to say I'm sad that it's over because I'm not sure how to spend my evenings now.

Apparently Harley likes Twilight too!!!  I couldn't keep him off of my book.

I spent part of my four day weekend sick in bed with the flu and I still don't think I'm 100% over it but I'm powering through for the sake of work and for the fact that this weekend is NYE weekend and I have BIG plans!!

With lots of food...and lots of love...and lots of booze (even though I was sick) it was a great four day weekend and an AMAZING Christmas!!!

My Life Lately...

it's been crazy I can say that for sure.

I built a bridge...well a model bridge.  I help build the real ones everyday.

I built this for my statics class at school.  It weighed about a pound and withheld 35 pounds of weight before the bottom broke loose from the top.  Not as impressive as some of the others but I was pretty proud.

With that bridge...I finished school for the semester!!!  Only 3 classes left and I'm done with this degree.

I put up my Christmas Tree...

This is one thing I didn't think I'd get done this year.  I'm not home often and it just didn't seem worth it but of course I couldn't go with out.  I didn't get much else decorated but a tree helps.

I bought some gifts for the blog exchanges...and mailed them out late.  Oops...major failure but they are shipped now.  Sorry for the delay.

I went to VEGAS!!!!  And this is why my gifts were shipped late.  Every year I spend 4 or 5 days in Vegas for the NFR and have a blast.  Never been??  You should try it!  I spent my days shopping, Cowboy Christmas at 2 locations and NRS World at MGM...I couldn't ask for more!!  I bought lots of pretty stuff. (And didn't take any pics).  I watched the live feed of the rodeo at the Excalibur every night.  I gamled a little and drank way too much.

We celebrated my mom's birthday in Vegas.  Two towers of margaritas at Margaritaville...

It's a must in Vegas...maybe not two towers but one at least.  And a cheeseburger!!

I got to watch the rodeo with my mom the last night.  We sat at the bar, played poker, drank, and watched some rodeo action.

I was really glad to be coming home Monday.  It was a very fun but extremely long weekend in Vegas!!

Plus...I got to come home to this cute dog!!!

He was so excited his mama was home!!!

My Weekend

My weekend...was low key and great!!!  My best friend and her 3 year old son came to visit and we had so much fun doing next to nothing.  Of course her coming also got me out of work a couple of hours early on Friday so that always makes a weekend great!

  • Friday night we went to her all time favorite restaurant in Belen (Pete's)...if you are ever in the area (like you'd really be in Belen, NM but maybe Albuquerque) Pete's is the place to go for some really good New Mexican food.  Dinner, 2 margaritas, and some great visiting completed we headed for home.  We stopped at the liquor store to buy some wine (St. Clairs Winery Cab-Zin...so good and a NM wine) thinking that we'd go home and enjoy a few glasses.  One glass of wine later (at 8:45) we were sound asleep!!!
  • Saturday morning breakfast at K & I Diner in Albuquerque before a quick trip up to Santa Fe to the little outlet mall.  K & I makes the best sloppy greasy amazingly good (but not good for you) food.
  • The Santa Fe outlet mall - not very big...not a lot of stores but enough and the right stores for what we needed.  I bought an amazing leather jacket at Wilson's Leather for $41.99 (originally $150).  And should've splurged on a Coach purse that would've been about $90.  I'm kicking myself for that now.  A few stores we visited were Nike, Ralph Lauren Polo, Under Armour, Wilson's, Gymboree, Coach, and Merrell.  They had a few other stores (Levi's, Guess...) that we didn't go in.
  • After a quick trip to the park for my friends son to burn off some energy we went to the house to relax for a bit before dinner.
  • It was back to Belen to Fat Sats.  Fat Sats is owned locally by a guy I went to high school with and a couple of his family members so we try to head down there and support them occasionally.  Dinner and drinks with friends was fun!
  • We stayed up later Saturday night, making it all the way to 11 PM!!!
  • Sunday morning we woke up and lounged around the house a bit before heading to a late breakfast and then she had to get back on the road to Texas.
I finished off the weekend building a bridge for my statics class and going to dinner with my parents and my cousin.

Now I'm ready to get thru until Wednesday and get on to Vegas!!!

A Funk...

Have you ever been in a funk??  Just downright not in a good mood??

That's me lately...maybe it's the pressure of trying to finish school for the semester.  Or the fact that my plans for Vegas got totally changed.  Maybe it's the fact that I'm alone during the holidays again and that doesn't seem joyful to me.

I get mad at people very easy...people at work, people driving down the road, people taking to long in drive-thru lines.  Cry?  I can cry at just about anything these days...I cried watching The Nanny on Nick at Nite last night...I mean really?!

I've got TONs of work to do to finish a school project and, really, my give a shit is busted.  I've got friends coming to town this weekend (which is the ONLY thing getting me thru the week) and I wanted to have my house decorated for Christmas before they got here...not happening.  Truth be told I'm not sure my house will be decorated this year, I just don't see a point because no one sees it.

I love Christmas, I really really do.  I love finding the perfect gifts for everyone and watching them open them.  I love getting gifts (no one can lie and say they don't).  I love going to look at all the pretty Christmas lights.

For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to put on a good front and not take my attitude to work and get mad at people when they do something to annoy me.  But let's face it...when you're at work more than at home that's a little difficult.  I apologize and I move on with my day.

So, it's one more week of school then off to Vegas for 4 days to hopefully calm myself and maybe find a cute cowboy or two!!!

Thanksgiving Week

Back at work today after spending last week at home catching up doing homework.  I was off of work but you would definitely not call it a vacation.  Working 45 plus hours a week and trying to keep up with 3 classes at school is almost more than I can handle this semester.

I had 16 homework assignments to do and it seems that even though I worked all day everyday for a week I still have tons to do.  I will power through it and get it all done this week...I better because school is almost done for the semester.

Thanksgiving was very low key this year with it being only my parents and I...and 2 delicious bottles of wine.

And some good time spent with friends over the weekend.  I was glad to get back to work today and back to a somewhat normal schedule.

My Weekend

My weekend was way too short!!!  Of course most of them are but this quick trip to Lubbock wore me out.  I had a blast and I am so happy that I went but I was extremely ready to be home last night.

I'd been "planning" this trip to Lubbock for about a week...ok really for almost a month but I mean really planned for about a week.  I woke up Thursday morning to a Facebook message from my BFF's husband saying that I should make a "surprise" trip to Lubbock for the weekend.  We had forgot to include him in the conversations about me going out there...OOPs!!!

I took the day off Friday and spent the early morning hours packing and was on the road by 8 AM for the 5 hour drive.  I was making good time...I was impressed with the 20 MPG my truck was getting (it's an 09 3/4 Dodge diesel)!!  I hit Clovis NM...and my check engine light comes on!!  Fortunately I made it to Lubbock and when I got ready to leave yesterday it just went off so I'm not sure what that was.

I got to Lubbock and was met by my most favorite and adorable 3 year old boy EVER!!!  And then watched him dance to "I'm Sexy and I Know It" ALL weekend long.

The sweet little boy raids his 8 year old brothers closet for some "better dancing clothes".  He studied the LMFAO video intently trying to figure out their moves.  Child can wiggle!!!

So my BFF has 3 boys...ages 3, 8, and 17.  The oldest is a senior in high school...Friday at 5 PM was his last high school football game.  They missed making the playoffs by one stinking game!!  We were all so upset they weren't making it to playoffs but they played their hearts out Friday night and won the game.  And my boy....he had an AMAZING interception!!!

This picture shows all of the emotion we had all night.  A mother and her first born consoling each other during the move to a new phase in life.  I seriously cry just looking at this picture today!  Baby boy is hoping to get on at West Texas A & M!  We are anxiously awaiting more news on that!

We spent the evening sitting on the back porch listening to the wind and doing what BFF's do.  We talked about everything...and about nothing.  The night was supposed to take us to an Aaron Watson concert but after my long drive and the game we were completely worn out and decided to stay in.

Saturday we spent the morning and early afternoon eating and shopping.  If you're ever in Lubbock, you need to make a trip to Coyote Candle Company!!  They don't have a website and this makes me sad.  They have so many amazingly cute things to look at and buy.  I ended up bringing home 3 new items from there this weekend.

My new clock!!!  I die!  The candle holders on the lower shelf came from Coyote Candle Co a few trips back!  I also purchased a tin tea light holder with cross cut outs and a little cake platter thing.  It currently sits beside my sink housing my Christmas hand soap and lotion!

Saturday night ended with steak and shrimp on the grill and us girls watching Magic Mike!  I hadn't seen the movie yet and I loved it!

Sunday mornings in Lubbock make me sad!  I know that I must return home and I absolutely HATE that feeling.  I usually spend most of the 5 hour drive home in tears wishing I could turn around and go back.

Our tradition has been to meet up with another friend from Lubbock at Hooters on my way out of town and enjoy a nice girls lunch.  This trip didn't dissapoint.  We spent 2 hours in Hooters just talking and laughing and making friends with our waitress.

Unfortunately that 2 hour lunch made my trip home seems extremely long and it was way past dark when I got home.

A NM sunset was the best part of the drive home!

I got home and finished my night putting together my new vanity that I've had in my garage for 3 weeks and relaxing in bed.

Two weeks and the BFF will be here to visit!!!  I cannot wait.

Good News / Bad News

The Good News: I voted!!  I actually voted a couple of weeks ago.

The Weekend

I'm linking up with Sami for the first time...let's see how this goes.

First and foremost I'm smiling this Monday morning.  I went to bed with a smile, I woke up with a smile.  Let's see if we can keep this going for awhile.

this is so true sometimes... (via)

I was out of town this weekend helping a friend move.  She was moving about 30 miles from one ranch to another.  You never realize how much stuff one person can fit in a 2 bedroom house...until you have to move.

We spent ALL DAY Saturday packing boxes and loading the stock trailer full of "stuff".  Yes when you live like we do you move in a stock trailer...no fancy U-Haul truck for us.

Fortunately after a hard day of packing we were able to relax and enjoy some yummy posole and green chile chicken enchiladas with some friends.  We spent the rest of the night enjoying some refreshing Coors Light and a hot tub that did wonders for sore moving muscles.

Yesterday, after sleeping for what seemed like forever Saturday night, we woke up and stumbled around the house getting ready and making some fantastic breakfast (we eat AMAZING out at the ranch).  We spent the rest of the morning/midday unloading the trailer in to the new house.

You can't make a trip to the ranch without stopping at our favorite Cantina so we stopped in for a late lunch and a yummy margarita on our way home.  I made it home just in time for it to get dark (dang Daylight Savings Time) and spent the rest of my evening relaxing on the couch.

A great weekend spent with loving friends...even if we were moving it was fun.  We planned our New Years' celebration this weekend also...now we just have to wait for it to be here and enjoy an evening at the ranch for New Years'!!

Dear Friday...

I keep saying I'm going to get better at this blogging thing and do it more often...so far I've failed.

On to another Friday's Letters with Ashley.

Dear Friday.  You took a long time to get here and I wasn't very patient waiting for you.

Dear Weekend.  Please don't go by to quick.  A weekend at the ranch is on the agenda and I don't want to miss a thing.

Dear Ranch.  I will miss you when we move everything away from there but we will sure be back to visit soon.

Dear Cattle Sale.  Please run smoothly, and don't last all night.  I'd like to start my weekend at the ranch sooner rather than later.

Dear November.  I have mixed feelings about you right now.  I love you and want you to stick around but I'd like you to hurry up so I can head to Vegas in December.

Dear Me.  You've been stressing a lot lately.  Work, school, life in general has your emotions going crazy.  Slow down...take a breath and enjoy life.  Embrace it!!

Dear Friday...you took so long to get here this week.  Please get here faster next week, I have fun plans next weekend and don't want to wait.

Dear 38 Degree Weather...I was not ready for you this morning.  I love the cooler days but not the so cold mornings.

Dear Halloween Party...I would love to come this weekend just not sure of a costume.  Here's to hoping I get creative today.

Dear Laundry...Please go away!!!

Dear Self...Please get back to yourself soon.  Next week would be great!!

This Weekend...

Have I mentioned that I LOVE Texas?!  Well, I do.  I spent this weekend visiting friends in Lubbock and it's just what I needed.

I've been out there pretty often lately and always hate coming home.  My best friend and her 3 amazing kids are there.  And I've met so many other great people who have become my friends.

I left home Friday morning at 6 AM and drove to Roswell (thru a MAJOR rain storm) for a meeting and then headed out to Lubbock.  I tried making it in time for the 3 PM pep rally but no luck there.

My friends oldest son is a senior in high school (not sure how this happened...seems like he was just born yesterday!!).  He's playing football again this year and is starting line offense and defense.  I vowed to make it to more games this year than in the past and have made it to half of them!!

It was Homecoming night and although they lost (by one measley field goal) they played their hearts out.  I've got to know a few of the boys on the football team and some of their friends and it was a bittersweat loss for them on their last Homecoming.

After the game we went home and relaxed with a couple of beers and listened to the boys stories about how they felt the game went.  Of course there was a little bit of gossip too (did y'all know boys gossip just as much as girls??).

Saturday was spent eating and shopping and watching some college football.  We ended the night enjoying a few cocktails on the back porch and making life plans.  HAHA!!  The ideas we come up with.

Sunday mornings in Lubbock are always sad...I know I have to come home and hate packing up and driving away.  We went to lunch and said our good byes in the parking lot and I made the five and a half hour drive home.

Planning my next trip out there as I type this makes me happy!!!

I Will Blog Again...

I feel the need to get back to writing my thoughts and such down.  I will get back in to this.

There is a busy week ahead of me traveling for work and out of town for a football game but I will get this.

Mini Vacation (Part 2)

After a late night Friday night (3:30 AM) and ice on one of the guys ankles.  Yea...he was that guy that fell down the stairs outside and noone else was out there to see it and help him.  We all claimed a bed and settled in for a few hours of sleep.

Saturday started nice and slow, getting ready, eating some breakfast and drinking the necessary amounts of red beer to get of the slight headaches from the massive amounts of alcohol consumed the previous night.

We spent Saturday at the horses races, now I've been to the horse races all over the state of NM...and while I enjoy a day at the races no matter what, this was amazing.  Our friends have a box and rented a second one for all of us to fit and we had a blast.  Drinking a few beers and betting on the ponies!!!  Best way to spend a Saturday.

After the races we headed back to our cabin with a few extra friends in tow to eat some dinner.  Now us girls that went on this trip know how to plan food, and there was no way anyone was going to starve.  Saturday night we planned for thick cut Ribeyes, grilled shrimp tossed in brown sugar and red chili flakes, baked potatoes, shrimp cocktail, jalepeno poppers, and rolls. And we ate and ate and ate and still had tons of leftovers!!!

We then of course enjoyed some beverages and a dip in the hot tub and 3:30 AM leftovers.  Who doesn't want leftover steak and baked potatoes in the middle of the night??

Sunday morning we all managed to sleep in until 9:30 and finally rolled out of bed and cooked some breakfast.  Eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, green chili, salsa, and toast!  Oh!!!  And bloody marys!  We spent the entire day Sunday at the cabin.  We sat around the bar and drank and relaxed and laughed like never before.  We of course spent sometime in the hot tub and then...one more time we cooked.

The boys decided to try on the girls blingy flip flops...

And a deer graced us with it's presence and spent the entire evening about 5' from our deck!

Sunday nights menu consisted of pork chops with a brown sugar crust, more jalepeno poppers (we put shrimp in them this time), hashbrown casserole, frito salad, salsa, south Georgia cavier...the works.  Frito salad is a family "recipe" that I've introduced to all of my friends and the are totally in love and ask for it at most get togethers.  The hashbrown casserole became a quick favorite as well.

Of course after dinner was more hot tub time and we all turned in by midnight.

A Mini-Vacation (Part 1)

A group of us spent a long weekend in Ruidoso, NM for a friends birthday.  We spent days finding a cabin to fit all of us (8 to 10) and found the perfect place...4 bedrooms, a hot tub, a great kitchen.  And then only 5 of us showed up.  We still had a blast and used the huge cabin to it's fullest!  So the 5 of us that made were 3 girls in one truck and 2 guys in the other...it was an adventure to say the least.

What all went down...

Friday -

We left town about 7'ish for the 2 hour drive...it took us 3 1/2 hours.  We stopped too many times, and had to slow down to drive thru the reminents of the Little Bear Fire.  We disobeyed the speed limit at times and slammed on the brakes only once to keep from hitting a deer.

We got lost in Ruidoso trying to find the management company of the cabin.  Google maps had us going the total wrong way...twice.  Once we found the management company we got lost...ok...just missed the turn finding the cabin.

We ran in and ran around and up and down the stairs squealing like little girls at how amazing this cabin is.  If you are ever planning a trip to ruidoso I suggest using Condotel Corp. for your rental needs...AH-MAZING!!  We stayed in the La Posada del Ponder cabin.  Like I said...amazing.

After all of the unloading and a little bit of getting ready, we headed to the bar.  A little local place call Win Place Show (WPS).  It's where all of us cool kids hang out.  Live country music, two-stepping, and cold beer.  I couldn't ask for much more.  We finished the night in the hot tub at the cabin and 3:30 AM breakfast.

Next up...Saturday and Sunday!

Because It's Friday...

Because it's Friday before a three day weekend, and because I've not blogged a lot and told myself I would.  Random bits of information...

1.  I've been home three weekends in the past two months.

2.  Weekends away are very nice but I'm ready to spend a few days at home...and sleep in on a Saturday in my own bed.

3.  I'll spend this long weekend out of town and then have a couple of weeks at home!!!

4.  I'm getting some much needed color in my hair.

5.  I've been to Lubbock on two of my weekend trips and really love it.  I miss my bestest and her family out there.

6.  Lubbock is coming to see me in a couple of weeks and I couldn't me more happy!!!  Six extra people in my house but I'm ok with that!

7.  Work has been extremely crazy and stressful lately.  If I can get thru next week I will be perfect!

8.  My weekends have consisted of swimming pools and sun or ranches and cows and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I guess I'll leave it at that for now.  Better get some work done so I can get of town!!

Shop-a-holic

Oh my goodness!!!  I have been a shop-a-holic lately!  I swear someone needs to come and take away all my dang credit cards!  Most of my shopping has been done online lately and I never used to buy much online.  What have I bought you ask??

I also bought some diet pills, which aren't exciting really, and a super cute bikini from VS but I cannot get on VS at work so you'll have to take my word on that one.

Shopping hasn't been limited to online either.  I've spent my fair share in the stores.  Maurices, Sunglass Hut, Dustee's.  I've been a shopping fool.  And I'm not done, I still have so many things I want to buy.

Someone please help curb my shopping desires before I go broke!!!!

Road Trippin'

Life has been wild lately!!  Not even sure when or what my last post was and right now...I don't have the time or energy to go back and look.

I've been traveling...a lot!  I've been working...a lot!  And I've been finding enough time to hang out with some great friends and family.

Now traveling has been twice a week for work, every Tuesday I drive 400 miles round trip and every Thursday it's something like 250 or 300 miles.  My normal week is 1,100 miles on the road.  You would think that would make a person want to stay home on the weekends but not me.

In the last three weeks I've traveled two weekends and will be traveling again this weekend.  I went to a friends ranch about an hour and a half south of where I live on the 13th, I was home the 21st for my birthday, last weekend I went to a different ranch north of where I live by about 3 hours.  This weekend I'll be in Lubbock.

I'm telling you, life is crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

The weather is beautiful, my friends are amazing, the drinks are cold, and life is great.

Blow Dryer Dilema

I ran in to problems this morning while trying to rush to get ready!  My 2 year old Chi blow dryer stopped blowing hot air!!!!  After waking up late and dragging my toosh around the house a few times to wake up I start to dry my hair.  Now, I usually take about 15 minutes to dry, flat iron, and finish my hair and get dressed....the last 15 minutes of my morning before I run out the door to start my insanely crazy days.

So, this morning I have 10 minutes and here I am half of my head of hair dry and no hot air!!!  Panic almost sets in, I don't what to do.  I mean, my semi wavy, looks like trash if I don't dry it hair cannot be seen on half of my head all day!!!  And then I remember this tiny, half works, travel blow dryer that blows your hair into a mess of knots and frizz but it will have to do.  I only left 5 minutes late with a little extra frizz!

Now I have to decide on a new blow dryer.  I loved my Chi, it worked wonders on my hair.  But I've heard some great things about the HANAair.  Do I go across town to Ulta and buy a new Chi or fork over some extra money and order a Hana?  Then if I order a Hana I must make a trip to Wal-Mart or Walgreens to pick up a cheap-o dryer to use in the mean time.  Decisions, decisions...

What a Weekend!!

This weekend was filled with a whole lot of nothing and it was WONDERFUL!!!  We went out of town and spent the weekend at a friends ranch.  The plan was to hit up the little town bar Friday night, spend Saturday out driving around the ranch and Saturday night grill steaks and have some friends out to celebrate good times.  Well as it turned out it snowed almost all weekend long so we ended up not driving around the ranch.

Friday night at the bar it ended up being three of my friends and I...and the bartender, who for some reason allowed us to keep him there way past his bed time.  It was after midnight when we left and the poor guy had to go to his other job 100 miles away Saturday morning.

Saturday we laid around the house and watched movies and were complete bums until time to get ready and start cooking.  Steaks, corn, spinach casserole, the BIGGEST baked potatoes (stuffed with onion and wrapped in bacon before baked), and rolls.  Amazing dinner!!!  And yes we grilled steaks in below freezing weather, the snow had stopped so we thought it was ok.  We hung out with friends and laughed at the silliness of our friends 2 year old and made it to bed at what we thought was a decent hour.

Sunday we drove home, the drive isn't bad just about an hour and a half, but after a fun filled weekend I was ready for a nap.  My nap lead to a very unproductive Sunday night but it was a well deserved weekend of rest and relaxation.  I'm ready for the next ranch weekend and a surprise birthday party for a friend.

Friday!!

It's finally Friday...and I'm finally feeling a little bit better.  I was out of work Tuesday and Wednesday, felt like I was on my last leg.  I finally went to to urgent care on Thursday...luckily I got there 30 minutes before they opened because by the time they unlocked their doors there was 5 of us waiting.  So, first one in and I came out with antibiotics, cough syrup with codeine, and tessalon pearls, oh and a follow up appointment schedule for next week to make sure it's cleared up.

Anyways, I'm back at it, working at about 50% of my normal and hoping the day goes fast.

I hadn't been on here in a while so I decided I would write today.  As, I was driving to work and stopped for a breakfast burrito, I started digging in my purse to find my wallet.  It was determined at that point that I must make my first order of business this morning cleaning out my purse.

It doesn't look like much when it's all spread out on my desk but it was a chore finding things.  7 pens / pencils, make up, prescriptions, a handful of keys, 2 cell phones, a little calendar, 5 Hour Energy drink, brush, hair spray, lotion, and Del Taco hot sauce...6 packets.

Who carries hot sauce in their purse, well, apparently I do but only because while driving home from the bar last weekend my friends decided they needed food and that my purse was the best place for the condiments.

And now...I can actually zip it closed.

Nice relaxing weekend planned this weekend, bed shopping and laying around trying to completely get over this illness.

Very Relaxing Weekend

Aren't those weekends when you have asolutely no plans and do very little the best?!?!

Friday night was me, my couch, a blanket, my dogs and some TV time.  I don't usually watch much TV but had some shows logged on my DVR and it seemed like the perfect time to watch them.  One Tree Hill...I became addicted to that show a couple of seasons ago, Teen Mom 2 (don't even get me started on why I like this one), and the new show Smash...it was pretty good.  I've not set the DVR to record the whole Smash series and want to keep up with that one.  By about 9:30 it was lights out and I was all cozy in my bed.

Saturday I got a manicure and pedicure and ran some laundry and did absolutely nothing else.  I laid in bed taking cat naps and watching Beverly Hills 90210 and Gilmore Girls.  Could a day be any better?  Saturday evening I went to a friends house to watch some movies and get ready for a little bit of bar time.  We waited for friends to get off work and ventured to our little local bar for some pools and adult beverages.  I have to admit by midnight we were all ready to go home and call it a night!

Yesterday I stayed in bed till NOON!!  (Most laying around I've done in probably 3 months!!) I put dinner in the crockpot and headed to the grocery store to get some last minute items I need for the week.  Wal Mart is the closest grocery store and just about 1/2 mile from my house...it was CRAZY on a Sunday afternoon.

I got home, put away groceries and laid back down to read and be a bum.  I spent the evening eating dinner, watching the Grammy's and trying to get a few chores done on the commercial breaks!

All in all a great weekend...just wish they were one day longer.

What I'm Loving

Things I'm loving today...

I'm loving that it's the middle of the week...so close I can see the weekend.

I'm loving the fact that I don't have any plans this weekend which means anything can happen...including nothing!

I'm loving that last night was a very enjoyable night with some good friends.

I'm loving that my car should be fixed this week and I can be done with those problems.

I'm loving some good Red Dirt music and the fact that maybe, just maybe, I'm going to see Casey Donahew tomorrow night!

I'm loving so many things that I could go on for days!

Some Ramblings

It's been a while since I posted...life has been busy.  Just a few random ramblings for this Tuesday.
  • I think I'm fighting getting sick.  Achy body, freezing cold for 3 straight days, and can't get rested...makes for a very unhappy girl.
  • Of course, this could be caused by my crazy fun filled weekend and lack of sleep I got for two days.
  • Best friends, team ropings, food, and drinks...great way to spend a weekend.  Even when it is really cold outside and you have to wear two jackets at the roping.
  • Emails from Afghanistan make me smile.  Just to know someone is ok and hearing from them is the greatest.
  • Late night phone calls from guys make me smile too!!  I love all my friends!!
  • I'm NOT looking forward to Valentines Day!!  I'm fine with being alone...I'm not fine with all the people who aren't alone fussing over what they get/don't get from their significant other.
  • Don't hate me for the last point...I mean it's great if you get things but if that significant other were that great they wouldn't just do these nice things on Valentines Day...year round guys!
  • It's almost two hours in to my work day and I've done abouttt..10 minutes worth of work!  That's what I call a good day!!
Ok...I've rambled enough.  Until the next time!

Short Week in the Office

I'm so glad it's Friday!!  I've been out it a little all week.  I was traveling for work and that always throws off my schedule.  I left Sunday for Houston and got home Wednesday night.  I had 3 days worth of new software training and while it was very helpful...it was VERY boring and made for extremely long days!!!  I did get to see one of my great friends that I hadn't seen in years which made the whole trip worth while.  I mean the guy lives in Austin and works about half way between Austin and Houston and he drove over to see me and take me to dinner.  I'm definitely going to have to make a trip to Austin just to visit later this year!!

So, being out of the office for three days makes for a very stressful two day week in the office.  Last night I felt the need to a little dancing and music so I headed to the bar with some friends to see Roger Creager and drink and dance the night away...made 5:30 this morning a little rough.

I'm working all day today and then hoping for an amazing weekend.  Christy is coming down from Denver to celebrate her birthday and we intend on doing lots of celebrating.  Drinks tonight, bar tomorrow night and Sunday I'm hosting football and food at my house!  Hope it's a great weekend for everyone!

The first week...

Well...I made it thru the first week of the new year...almost. Just 8 hours left and it will be the weekend.  Work has been crazy, house work has been abundant, and there has been very little relaxation.  I started working out and eating better but haven't exercised as much as I wanted.  Baby steps right?

This weekend should be pretty low key.  Finish cleaning house and pack for a work trip to Houston.  As much as I love to travel for any reason, I HATE packing.  I'm the girl that has a hard time deciding what I'm going to wear for three days and sticking to it.

Back to work, I've got stacks of paperwork to get rid of before I leave.  Happy Weekend!!!

New Years Happenings

I had another crazy eventful weekend.  Just like Christmas week we started on Thursday with a birthday party for my brother (his birthday is NYE but we were all going to be scattered in different places so we partied early).  We went back to our local hangout and enjoyed each others company until they kicked us out.  I had Friday and Monday off so I started my day Friday packing up and running a couple of errands before heading out to a friends ranch to enjoy a weekend without phones, driving, and crazy people.

We went to a little cantina Friday night and had a blast!!  We drank and talked and watched a little UFC...which seemed really odd in this little cantina in this tiny tiny town.

Saturday we got up and got to prepping food for the New Years Eve festivities.  We had way more food than needed.  We got ourselves ready and headed across to the party house...10 miles away.  Did I mention that there was tons of snow and plenty of muddy slick roads?  I'm talking 3' snow drifts.  Well all those slick country roads led to this...

Yea...I slid off the road...I'm talking totally stuck...not moving anywhere.  It made for a not great start to the celebration.  Although, I got over it quickly and proceeded to the festivities of the night (which included a late night trip to get my truck out of the ditch after every thing froze.  That's the joys of ranch life?!

We enjoyed our evening and took NO pictures...well none that are worth showing at least.  Counted down to midnight and made it to bed not long after.

Sunday morning I came home and cleaned up and headed to Chili's to continue my New Years celebrations with a friend who came in from Colorado...we drank and ate...  And I was at home in bed by 7:30!!  Apparently I had to much fun all weekend.

My time off on Monday included sleeping in, running errands, and putting up fence for horses.  Nothing too exciting.

I'm back to work and crazy busy but will be out next week in Houston for work for a few days.
