Vacations...Part 1

Last fall a group of friends decided that we would spend this year taking vacations.  Nothing big but lots of little trips.  Of course, most of these trips would turn out to be trips we wanted to take from April through the first part of July. I'm talking lets mash every trip we can in to three and a half months right!?

So the plans...

  • April - I posted about it before here, we are planning a trip to Lubbock.  We're still not sure which weekend.
  • April - this weekend, while having an impromptu party at my house, we were told by some friends that our presence was being requested in Waynoka, OK the first weekend of April.  Some big sand dune festival or something...I'm not sure.  We were just told that it was bound to be a good time with our group.
  • April - Branding weekend at a friends ranch up north.  That's always a fun trip and we are pretty much expected to be there.  Now, with everything else going on and needing to home some on the weekends to work there is a question if we can go or not.
So, that would be three trips in April, leaving one weekend free, that weekend would end up having to be my best friends mothers birthday which kind of makes us need to be home.  The question is can we afford to be gone 3 weekends in one month.  Not only financially but physically?

  • May - Graduation in Lubbock, TX.  My longest best friends son (got that?), he's growing up and graduating at the end of May.  There is NO way I can miss this.
  • May - Annual trip back home to Oklahoma.  My parents make this trip every year...I make it about once every 3 years.  We spend a week at Tenkiller Lake then move to Green Leaf Lake for a family reunion.

This family reunion is always at the same time...the weekend right after Memorial weekend.  Well, that happens to be the same weekend as the Lubbock graduation.  I've decided I'm going to drive to OK with my folks then drive back with my brother and get straight to Lubbock, then some how, magically get home.  I'm thinking flying but I hate that flight, with layovers it's a longer flight than it takes to drive.

Right now there is nothing else scheduled for May.  I'm ok with that, these two trips puts me away from home for a week and a half.  I'm sure we will squeeze in lake weekends or ranch weekends somewhere in there.

Up next...June and July vacations!  That's entirely too much drama right now.

Decisions Decisions

All of my friends and I have decided that this is the year that we will do the things (ok some of the things) that we've been wanting / needing to do.  Last year we did huge weekend long birthday celebrations for a couple of them.  Me...we did a couple of hours at the little local bar.  Don't get me wrong it was a blast but it doesn't qualify as a GREAT birthday gathering.

So, this year I decided I wanted to go to Lubbock and go out there.  See one of my BFF's lives there and a few of my others live here.  Lubbock gets us out of town and let's my Lubbock bestie be involved.  We've decided we'll do Friday night at her house and Saturday night out to Wild West for a concert.

Now, I'm not picky which weekend we go.  My birthday is April 21st and I want to go in April but we also have other things going on and so I decided we would pick a concert we want to see and a weekend we could go and adjust accordingly.  I've found out who is playing there three of the four weekends (if I could just find out who was playing the 27th I would be set).

My options...

Aaron Watson - I've seen him a few times but always a good show.  I actually took a picture with him and he shook my hand and my friends and told her happy birthday.

Bart Crow Band - Haven't seem them.  The weekend they are there just isn't the greatest timing but we can make it work.

Reckless Kelly - I've seen Reckless twice..both at Wild West.  Both great shows...once just about a month ago.  I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

Trish and I at Reckless Kelly!
So now it's just time to decide which weekend we should go.  And hope to find out who is there the last weekend!  I mean!!!  What if that's an even better show coming!

Thank Goodness it's Friday!

Dear My Favorite Uncle: You made it through your very scary surgery yesterday with no problems at all.  I was worried, and sad that I couldn't be there, but I'm so happy it went great.  Hopefully I'll get an update soon this morning on how you're feeling.  Get better soon, we all have big summer plans!!

Dear Sun Care Tan:  I had my first spray tan in years last night and I feel like a completely different person this morning sporting a little bit of color.  Too bad the weather is taking a turn back to cold and possible snow/rain.

Dear Weather: Can you please make up your mind and just warm up?!  I'm getting a little tired of wearing sweatshirts and jackets every morning.

Dear Work:  I'm glad that the approximately 1,000 miles that I drove this week looking at jobs got me out of the office.  However, this girl is seriously not used to making those day trips like that.  I mean, seriously, I went to Arizona and back Monday.

Dear Music:  You've been a lifesaver this week!  The Highway on Sirius, my IPod, and Pandora...seriously lifesavers.  Long road trips, sleepless nights, days in the office...you've got my back.

Dear Bart Crow Band:  I wish I could say I was on my way to see you tonight but I just don't think it's going to happen.  Everyone besides me has commitments tomorrow and don't think they can make it tonight.  Maybe I should consider getting new friends?!  HAHA

Dear Friends:  I won't really get new friends...OK maybe I will but I'll keep you too.  I mean a girl needs options and the opportunity to go see Bart Crow!!!

Friday's Letters

Dear Friday:  Thank you for FINALLY showing up!!  I've really missed you.  And thank you for being a half day of work!  Dear Eye Associates of NM:  I'm really glad you scheduled my appointment for a Friday afternoon so I only have half day of work.  It took us three trys but we are finally doing this.  Dear People at Work:  Yes we are going through some crazy times, don't try and hide your emotions.  Let people know how you feel instead of working like a jerk!!

Dear Self:  I really need to take better care of you I'm sorry.  Pedicure, eye brow waxing and facial may be on the agenda this weekend.  Dear Ulta:  Please do not put too many things out on the shelfs that I will be tempted to buy.  I don't want to spend my whole paycheck while I'm there.

Dear Weekend:  Please don't move to quickly.  Down time is what I need...oh and great Super Bowl party on Sunday!
