One Email Can Change Everything

I had every intention of posting what I was thankful for yesterday but truthfully, I couldn't find anything I was thankful for all morning.  I realize that I am very fortunate but yesterday, yesterday just didn't start out to be my day.

As I went outside to leave for work I found ice (already!!) on my windshield that I had to scrape.  No big deal but it's really just too early in the year to see that.  Then...then!!!  I go to Sonic for my ice tea fix and turn the truck off to order (diesel's are way too loud for drive thru ordering), I turn the truck back on...put it in drive...step on the gas pedal...and the truck cuts out and the check engine light comes on.  The continues to run and I proceed to the window and get my glorious tea.  I decide that I better stop by the dealership and get it hooked up to see why the light came on.  A quick stop I HOUR later almost they come back with 4 codes...not just one but FOUR!!!

I get to work and google the code they are most concerned with and find that it can be as easy as a blown fuse...or as expensive as $900 to fix!!  This is not what I need when I'm days from being without a job.  Queue tears!!

This then makes me think about the fact that I haven't heard back from BNSF and that certainly has to be bad news.  I've put all my eggs in one basket and haven't applied anywhere else.  What am I going to do now?!  Queue more tears!

Work problems...queue even more tears!

And's where we get to what I was thankful for yesterday!!  I got an email at 1:15 was the BEST email ever! have a job offer from BNSF!!!  I got the job, well it's not mine yet, today I am sitting here filling out forms and making phone calls to get all of my medical testing completed.  But after that...I get the job!!

Day 13 - I was so immensely thankful for that one little email that changed my mood and is directing me to my new future.

And today - Day 14 - I am thankful for hair appointments, I have one at 4 PM today and it is needed and deserved if I do say so myself!

I'm still on cloud 9 over this job and cannot quit smiling!!!  So here's to new beginnings!

5 Days of Being Thankful...I'm a Little Behind

With nothing going on all weekend I somehow didn't find a chance to post any of these.  So here we go...the things I've been thankful for over the last five days.

Day 8 - Alone Time - I spent Friday night home alone and while I sometimes think that is the worst possible thing I was kind of happy for it Friday night.  It gave me time to cope with things and wrap my head around things that are coming soon and quickly.

Day 9 - Distractions - Saturday I distracted myself with Sonic ice tea and Target.  I've been waiting on an email that I was supposed to receive by Saturday and had spent the majority of the week refreshing my email approximately every 5 minutes.  Saturday's distraction took my mind off of it and allowed me to enjoy an hour long shopping trip at Target.

Day 10 - Friends - This should be on my thankful list every single day.  I don't know where I would be without my friends.  We don't see each other every day and sometimes even every week...and some I don't live close enough to even see once a month but I've got a group of the GREATEST people supporting me and making me laugh.  Life wouldn't be the same without them.

Day 11 - Naps - Apparently life has gotten me down and just completely exhausted lately.  I got home from work and put away some laundry and was just going to sit down for a few minutes.  That turned in to a very amazing almost two hour nap.  With not getting much sleep at night lately I was very thankful for this nap.

Day 12 - Family - Along with friends, my family needs to be on the list daily.  I don't have a big family but I have the biggest hearted family I could ever wish for.  They push me to be better, they encourage me to do my best, they let me complain about things all too often...they are there through everything.

So Thankful

I missed yesterday I somehow just let the day get completely away from me.

Day 6 - yesterday I was thankful for the fact that my daddy and brother and all of the other men in my life have taught me to be self-sufficient.  I replaced (by myself) the turn signal bulb on my truck and the air filter.  I do the air filter all the time but the bulb was a new experience.  And if it hadn't been for "my men" teaching me that I can do those things, I would still be driving around with a blinker out.

Day 7 - today I am thankful for new beginnings.  As sad as I was/am (I'm not sure if I'm still real sad most days) about my company closing I'm realizing how great this opportunity is.  I have a second chance at a career...a fresh new start.  I had a second "interview" Monday and I'm just waiting to hear back...hopefully I will get good news soon.

And just because when I saw this a couple of nights ago I couldn't quit laughing!  Three wise men...

Day 5 - Giving Thanks

Today I am thankful for coffee...and peppermint mocha coffee creamer.  Without it I wouldn't make it through most days, today especially.

The last few nights I've had a hard time sleeping.  I sleep great from about 11 or 11:30 to about 1 and then I'm up.  Like wide awake, should be up doing something, but still so exhausted I cannot handle it.  That feeling usually goes away around 4 or 5 and then I can sleep until 5:30!  I wake up not feeling rested at all and truth be told this morning I woke up and thought that I might not make it through the day without choking someone.
With that being said...I am so so thankful for coffee and everyone around me should be as well because I think I just might make it today!
And yes...I'm also thankful for my comfy, cuddly Taz blanket from probably 1990 or so!  That blankie has been on many adventures with me.  It rarely gets left home when I go out of town.

A Month of Giving Thanks - Day 4

I decided on November 1st that I was going to post everyday something that I am thankful.  With that being said, I am already 4 days behind but have a good excuse.  Ok, so it maybe isn't a good excuse but it is an excuse.

I had a great weekend full of nothing.  Absolutely nothing besides cleaning house and doing laundry.  I left the house twice, once Saturday to buy groceries and Sunday morning to get a breakfast burrito from Blakes.

So what have I been thankful for...

Day 1 - I was thankful for the fact that I am closing in on the end of the school year.  Only 4 more days of class after 11/1.  Four more Friday's of traveling all the way across town to go to school.  Four more 7 hour school days and I will be done!

Day 2 - Saturday I was thankful for early morning grocery shopping.  Now, it wasn't super early, like 8:30 early but early enough that I didn't have to deal with the crazy crowds at Wal-Mart.  And there were actually some very nice people there that early!

Day 3 - I was not thankful that I woke up around midnight and didn't go back to sleep until close to 6 am.  That made for a long Sunday but I was thankful that I had no plans and could spend the day in my PJs doing laundry and being lazy.  Lazy weekends are sometimes the best.

Day 4 - Today I am so very thankful for new opportunities.  I have a second set of testing to do for a new job, and while I'm nervous for it, I'm not near as nervous as I was last Wednesday for the first testing and interview.  Here's to hoping that today goes great and I don't panic and forget how to type!
